| Evolution of ideas in physics. |
To organize. Talk among others (for a high school level)
- the birth of science, the scientific method, this idea of questioning nature rather than questioning priests and oracles.
- To speak of the world of heaven (perfect) and the terrestrial world (imperfect) which are united with the law of the Universal Gravitation of Newton.
- To speak about macroscopic physics (up to the middle of the 19th century): study of the phenomena accessible by human senses, even if the human senses were replaced by more objective and precise measurements of more and more sophisticated sensors. Talk about natural phenomena observed and natural phenomena forced into specific experiments. All this opens to the human mind a much larger world, much richer, much more unsuspected => independent sciences (mechanics, electricity, optics, magnetism, thermodynamics, acoustics, ...).
- Talk about the advent of microscopic physics, with the atomic hypothesis. The idea that macroscopic phenomena are consequences of microscopic phenomena.
